Sustainability at Mayfield

Complete Sustainability

Sustainability is not a choice, it is a responsibility. At Mayfield, we take our responsibility to steward the earth’s natural resources as carefully as possible so you can enjoy your new deck knowing you are also helping contribute towards a greener world.  We are also passionate about wildlife conservation and protecting our beautiful beaches, countryside and environment. We work closely with several national charities to support environmental causes.

We support Surfers Against Sewage – a campaign that hopes to tackle plastic pollution and protect the UK’s coastlines.

We are pleased to partner with (THG) More Trees. For every aluminium deck purchased, we plant 3 trees.

Since 2005, Mayfield has sponsored The Bumblebee Conservation Trust and works closely with the charity to raise important funds.

We pride ourselves on our sustainable approach to decking. We adopt our own 3 ‘R’s approach – Recycle, Reduce and Responsible!

Aluminium Sub Frames

At Mayfield, we take the environment very seriously and are aware of the issues facing our planet, especially where plastics are concerned. We’re proud to share how in all materials we use, we are constantly looking for more sustainable alternatives and processes.

Our Deck Boards are manufactured from 80% recycled materials instead of virgin grade plastics. At the end of their life, they can be recycled again so there is no need to send them to landfill. While the timber that we use is sustainably sourced, we are also making an active effort to reduce the amount of timber used in Mayfield decks. Our latest development, Aluminium Deck Subframes, have a longer lifespan than its timber alternative and doesn’t affect the overall quality of the finish. The material is strong, dependable and is helping to reduce our impact on the environment. Click here to find out more.

Recycle

We select products that are manufactured using recycled materials and at the end of their life can be easily recycled again. This includes all of our material waste and off-cuts.

Reduce

We are reducing our global impact with our Net Zero factory and replacing timber sub fames with aluminium which reduces our annual consumption of Timber.

Responsible

We manage our products from start to finish and take steps to reduce our impact. This means reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and switching to technology such as solar power.

Sustainability throughout all of our Products

Sustainability - Plastics

Plastics

Our materials are made from up to 80% recycled raw materials during the manufacturing process. Using recycled materials does not affect the quality in anyway and they carry the same structural benefits as virgin materials. We use recycled materials in our products as a conscious measure to improve our environment as we value the world we live in.

66%

Using recycled plastic reduces energy consumption by 66%.

100%

The materials used to make our products are 100% recyclable.

1.8

Sustainability - Timber

Timber

We use FSC timber to form the substructures on our decks as it is a sustainable material sourced from well-managed forests. Using timber in construction locks away carbon for long periods. Even when wood is eventually recycled, it releases its carbon back into the atmosphere within a relatively short time. Therefore timber, being relatively newly grown and then returned directly to nature, is in effect carbon neutral.

Sustainability Statement – in everything we do.

At Mayfield, we pride ourselves on being reactive to environmental concerns and acting way ahead of the curve. We are so passionate about manufacturing and supplying sustainable products with the very best “green” credentials – but not because we have to, because we want to!

Keeping sustainable thinking in the forefront of our mind will keep driving us forward to do more, in more and more sustainable ways.

Solar Powered

Mayfield have switched to renewable sources of energy to power our factory in Poole. The installation of solar panels was simple and surprisingly affordable and provides enough energy to run the entire site as well as E-Charging stations for our EV fleet and EV site vehicles.
