That really depends on what you want to use it for. It’s worth thinking about any furniture you may have to fit and don’t forget about the position of the sun (and shade). A fully enclosed front deck is ideal for smaller numbers and where there is limited space between homes. A side deck may give more privacy and offer shelter from the weather. If you are planning to do a lot of entertaining with family or friends or need a runway for children, grandchildren, or pets, then a full wrap (Front and Side joined together) is probably the way to go. Just remember to check with the Park if there are any restrictions.
That is entirely up to you. Many customers choose board colours coordinated with the colour of their home and balustrade to match window and door frames. Light and dark grey are very contemporary, but fashion change.
We offer two types of UPVC ‘picket style’ fencing – Victorian (square) or Colonial (rectangular) – the choice is yours. By upgrading to glass panels, you can enjoy shelter from any drafts without spoiling the view and using your deck for longer in the season.
Enclosing your home and deck with our Ranch-style skirting is the perfect way to finish your installation. Besides keeping unwanted critters from getting under your home, skirting hides unsightly services and keeps drafts to a minimum without spoiling the look.
Yes, your deck is made using high quality UPVC and FSC Approved treated timber. It will require minimal cleaning normally at the start and end of the season to keep it in tip-top condition. We can even supply you with our famous Washbomb formula that is ideal for cleaning decks.
Although there are no specific regulations in place, we follow strict building codes and best practice to ensure our decks are built to the highest standard.
You won’t be able to retrofit mains powered post lights, you might be able to source aftermarket Solar types by searching online.
Yes, installation and materials are both covered by warranty and our top selling Hampton Board is covered for up to 10 years.
Yes, as long as it’s within the Park guidelines.
For many it’s the low maintenance and 12-year warranty. For others it’s the fact that the profile is convex which enables water to run-off without pooling or freezing which can cause icy patches. Or maybe the acrylic cap which helps to keep its colour for longer and provide extra grip when its wet.
Available in 6 contemporary colours to contrast and co-ordinate with your home – Dolphin Grey, Kimmeridge Grey, Coconut Brown, Cornish Cream, Seamist Green and Brownsea Brown.
The Hampton deck clip is a very special little clip indeed. On the surface, it looks just like another deck clip, but much thought and engineering has gone into the design and material used to make it.
On closer inspection, you will find tiny ribs along the inside of the clip which become deeper the closer they get to the centre. These hold the deck plank in place once fitted and prevent lateral movement. One side of the lower clip is longer than the other.
This sits flush under the decking planks to prevent the decking from ‘bounce’ which in turn prevents irritating squeaking noises (a common complaint with other decking products).
You will also see two holes in the clip. The central hole is the one used for fixing the clip to the substrate. Having a central hole allows individual planks to be removed post-installation if a plank needs to be replaced due to accidental damage.
Mayfield uses in excess of one million of these clips annually and over the 10 years+ they have been used, none have failed. They cannot rust as they are made from incredibly robust thermoplastic plastic. They are virtually invisible due to being a side-mounted decking plank design and clear in colour.
They are the unsung hero of our decking system but are highly regarded in-house as one of the key components which make our decking systems the best in the industry.
We understand that not everyone has the same budget which is why we have a range of products to suit all pockets.
It’s the supporting structure that the deck is built on. The stronger the subframe, the more solid the deck will feel. Since the majority of decks for Holiday Homes are raised off the floor, it’s important the deck doesn’t move when walking on it.
Timber has been used in construction for thousands of years and offers great value for money. We only use responsibly sourced and FSC approved Carcassing timber graded to CLS24 and pressure treated with Tanalith E8000. This is expected to give it a serviceable life greater than the 12-year warranty on our Hampton Board. Our step assemblies go one better using Tricoya stringers which have a useable service life of 25 years even when wet.
For the ultimate in low maintenance and prolonged life, you can upgrade to an Aluminium subframe manufactured using recycled materials which can be recycled again at the end of its life. Lightweight but strong (they build aeroplanes out of it!), it will not rust unlike steel subframes.
